Delta Blues

During the infancy of everyone’s fascination with the blues, no doubt they quickly start hearing about “Delta” blues. Why does this style still remain so popular and influential? Frankly, it can be argued that Delta blues is blues in one of it’s purest forms. The Delta blues style, songs, and artists have influenced and inspired legions of musicians (and not just blues musicians) worldwide. Conceptually simple, yet so emotionally powerful. Simplistic in form, yet grand in it’s ability to reach and move others. Delta blues laid the foundation for post-war Chicago-style blues, and in turn, many other styles thereafter. Let’s look into some of the history of Delta blues, and some of it’s most influential artists.
